If your products require import / export permits, arrange for them in advance to avoid delays at customs.

To ensure the lowest rate of duty on your products, be sure to include any Country of Origin Free Trade Certificate forms that will apply. Refunds of duty after the fact will cost you money. We can also assist you with this!

Always ensure your declared value represents the proper value for Customs purposes (be sure to research the various types of valuation methods Customs uses). If you are shipping ”No Charge” goods, you still need to show the fair market value on the invoice regardless of why they are not charge and indicate the terms of sale (ex: warranty replacement, temporary import, stock transfer etc.). Do not undervalue goods to avoid paying duty and taxes, and Customs does not like to see “value for customs purposes only”. Customs has ways of verifying values, and this can lead to penalties and seizures.

The Customs Documentation is the most critical piece in a customs clearance. The invoice needs to have the descriptions in layman's terms, correct and complete HS codes, country of manufacture, quantity, value and weight information. If your goods are regulated by any Participating Government Agencies, you must have their required information or documentation attached.

If you are sending goods regulated by other Participating government Agencies such as food, livestock, drugs, etc, inquire before shipping about special permits, licences or certificates that may be required. Shipments of this nature can be delayed and/or refused by other agencies that inspect your goods.
